Day
3 JOURNEY from Botswana to Zambia:
Today our journey to Liuwa Plains begins.
We travel from Botswana through Namibia, stopping shortly in Katima Mulilo
to get some fresh produce, then into Zambia (U$50 visa per person). We spend
the night wild camping close to Kolongola (B, L, D).
Day
4 MANGO TREE ROAD:
After crossing seemingly endless sand dunes covered in Teak forests we
descend onto the Zambezi floodplains and travel the beautiful and
picturesque Mango-Tree-Road, leading us north to Kalabo. Beautiful Zambian
villages are the highlight, before we find a space in the forest to camp
wild. (B, L, D).
Days
5 - 8 LIUWA PLAINS NATIONAL PARK:
We arrive early in the Liuwa Plains National Park. This time of the year
a wildebeest migration from the Angolan National Park KAMEIA to the Zambian
LIUWA Plains National Park can be expected. Thousands of wildebeest will be
seen on their journey. They migrate through the plains on search of
palatable grass. Following them are the kings of Liuwa plains, the hyena.
Bird life is exceptional. Wild camping. (B, L, D)
Day
9, LIUWA PLAINS - SIOMA:
We leave the park after an early morning drive.
There will be time to visit the local market in Kalabo. Then we head south
toward Sioma falls, camping wild en route. (B, L, D).
Days
10 - 11 SIOMA FALLS:
Sioma Falls (also known as Ngonye Falls) are, next to Victoria Falls,
the most breath-taking waterfalls in Southern Africa. The horseshoe-shaped
Ngonye Falls are mostly impressive because of the sheer volume of water that
cascades over the staggered twenty meter drop. Until now, this pristine
wilderness is completely unknown to tourists. We will make a day excursion
to the falls, picnic lunch and swimming in the mighty Zambezi. (B, L, D).
Days
12 - 13 LIVINGSTONE, VICTORIA FALLS:
After descending the gruelling road along the western bank of the
Zambezi, we cross the river and arrive in Livingstone late afternoon. The
next day you will have enough time to visit the falls and to participate in
the many adventure activities. (rafting, helicopter flights). We overnight
at the riverside Zambezi Waterfront. (Day 12 B, Day 13 L, B)
